win XP hanging with Hercules drivers.

Hi,
just got a 3d prophet III card. Installed it but win XP chooses drivers. When I update to Hercules recommendeed XP drivers the system hangs & I HAve to reboot to a old configuration. I have a Gigabyte 7?? motherboard. Does anyone know why this happens or is there a conpatability problem with Hercules Graphics cards??
