We bought a Digital Camcorder Panasonic PV-DV601 in 2000 and over the years have done about 25 tapes. Now it is time to put them to a hard drive etc but of course the disc that came with it is for windows 98> I have three computers with Windows Xp and one with windows 8. I tried the disc and then hooked the camera up as instructed thinking that I would be able to udate the driver afterwarads. It does not work duh because everything is outdated. I called Panasonic 4 times and basically got the feeling that they just did not give a "care" So I tried to download the updated driver as I get the message Mkemusb.sys not found on all the computers. I have uninstalled everything, reisnstalled everything, paid my dues here and downloaded the "updated" driver for the 601 and when it unzips it goes to my temp file. I have put it in a diffrent folder etc, with no luck. Here is a list of what it is doing. Welcome to found new hardward wizzard. The camera is listed as a Panasonic digital camcorder It asks the two questions from disc or specific location. No disc so I go to the location where my file is unzipped and it tells me that there is no device information files. I have worked on this for three days, my key board is wore out, I have downloaded and unzipped and deleated and done the clean up so many times that my broadband is almost used up. I even had my wife look at it. Any help or suggestions would be so appreciated. It does have a firewire and one of the 5 computers does have a 1394 port so I can do it that way but that computer is on its last leg as well so I would like to get the others working.
