The AMD USB 3.0 Host Controller drivers are missing. They are also not available for download from the Acer or AMD websites.

Is your usb controller integrated on the motherboard or a stand-alone pci/pci-e plug-in card?

I don't know about USB 3.0 but with USB 2.0, support comes from the OS, not from stand-alone drivers.

It's the integrated contoller on the motherboard. And yes, I thought that they should be integrated, even Acer states on their driver download website that only the drivers that are not internally supported by Windows are listed.

However, all Microsoft Updates are applied, incuding the Service Pack and every time I search for the drivers, it tells me that Windows cannot install them. And I bought two netbooks of the same kind, it's the same on both, so the likeliness that it's a fault is very, very low, if that is amongst the thought patterns.

I didn't wanna use the Home Premium preinstall that came with it, but my Ultimate version of Windows 7 64-bit. The preinstall had the drivers and it was working, so I'm a little at a loss here.

I have found a solution for the problem last night. It appears that the USB 3.0 Host Controller is part oif the Radeon HD 6250 GPU, or closely related. It does sit next to an HDMI output as well. I hadn't installed the specific drivers yet, because Windows did pickup the graphics chip natively. Bundled, however, with the Catalyst drivers are the AMD USB 3.0 Host Controller drivers.
