So this is the report of my PC. I have no idea what's wrong. It's been like this since i reinstalled Windows XP, my sound worked perfectly on Windows 7.

Please read the dozens of threads and STICKIES (found in the sound forum, where this post should be) identical to yours and you'll find there is no such sound chip as "Intel 82801FB".

"Intel Grantsdale-G i915G" is a chipset not a motherboard model.

Sound chips are made by companies like Realtek, Cmedia, ADI SoundMAX, VIA, and IDT (formerly Sigmatel).

If you want a driver please include the hardware ID string found in Device Manager. eg: Open Device Manager, find and double-click the sound device, click the "Details" tab, select "Hardware ID" then give me the hardware id string that begins with "PCI/VEN"
