I made a Windows XP sata install floppy for the acer extensa 5420 SATA driver (ati smbus)
with the inf & cat file from the driver package and i renamed the org. pciide.sys to SMBUSati.sys.
Run the XP setup cd, press F6 in the beginning and load the floppy
It worked for me

I have an Acer Extensa 5420 with WD1600BEVS SATA HD and after a reformat, my Windows Vista (32) install disks can not find a device driver to access hard driver (drive controller driver, then I assume). It asks for the installation media and after search across this site, and WD and Acer, i can not find a drive controller driver for Vista. help!
