HP has the drivers for this model posted on their website: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/p...io+c7 00#N620

However, Windows 7 is not a supported OS. It was never shipped from Compaq with Windows 7 installed hence it's an unsupported OS (from HP).

Open Device Manager, find and double-click the network adapter, click the Details tab, select "hardware id" and give me the hardware id string that begins with "PCI\VEN", (1st./top line of text only).
