Thought I would post here regarding LG GWA-4161B DVD Burner and conflicts with the raid feature of the Silicon Image 680 IDE Card. System is MSI K7Pro w/Athlon 1G processor. Hard drives are accessed throught the Sil 680 card, DVD Burner/Cd rom accessed through mother board IDE ports. When using the burner either with Roxio Platinum 6.2, or Nero 6.2 discovered all kinds of intermittent problems. Neither program would overburn onto 800 Mb CD's and/or not recognize various blank DVD's for burn. After several weeks mucking about with this thing, trying different versions of ASPI drivers etc., etc., read a post somewhere to suspect the Raid feature of the Silicon Image IDE Card. Thus logged onto Silicon Images site and downloaded and implemented an older bios that changed the Sil Raid card to just a standard UDMA 133 IDE unit, NO RAID feature. Re-installed the operating system, software etc and all problems solved. Can burn just a bout any kind of blank disk and overburning no problem.
Thus has been my experience, thought I would post as may help someone else out there.
