DRIVER NEEDED: Samsung Super Writemaster DVDMultiRecorder SpeedPlus (Windows 7)

The model number on this drive is:
SH-S202N BSBN.

I don't know what the interface type is because I have no documentation on it. I need to point out that we are trying to install a new copy of Win 7 after we had to replace the motherboard. We are getting an error message at the end of the installation that "a required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing." I understand that modern optical drives are plug and play. That may be but I can't get around this error message to finish the installation of Win 7.

This drive has an IDE interface and requires no drivers when used in any Windows OS from Windows 95 and up thru Vista and 7.

Is the drive visible in My Computer and in Device Manager?

What does Device Manager say about the drive, ie: flagged, working, not working, other?

Is the IDE controller reported as working in Device Manager?

I can't answer any of these questions because Win 7 won't finish the install and it won't go past the message "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD or USB flash drive, please insert it now." I don't have any of those things. But if I could get whatever driver it is looking for, I could put it on a flash drive.

My son does have another optical drive which I believe is an older CD drive. He swears it is not connected at this time. I think I will remove it from the tower to make absolutely sure it is not connected.

Are you booting from the Windows 7 install disk and do you have the boot order in bios setup to where the optical drive is the 1st. boot device? It sounds like you may have a sata drive... the sata drive doesn't need a driver but the sata controller does.
