Question Thinkpad 600

I upgraded to WinXP and now when I boot I am prompted for a cmos password. IBM's website says to take it to repair dealer. Anybody have this problem before.?

If you added a bootup password - you ARE taking it to the vendor
Depending on your model -Thinkpads secretly encrypt the HDD when you add the bootup password

there are ways round it - but it involves building a chipset override - soldering it to the motherboard and flushing some chips

your better off taking it to the vendor
