HP never shipped this machine with Windows XP. It came from the factory with Vista installed. That's the only OS the manufacturer offers support for.
You can do a search in their Consumer support forums
by going here: (to see if anyone else has tried this with this machine and posted links to the drivers)
Other wise, the only way we can help you is if you identify the hardware. Changing the OS on a pc to a non-supported os is tedious and difficult (as you have already found out)
You might want to try using this program:
To find make and model of pc hardware, EVEREST Home Edition
is a free system diagnostics, system information program that will id most hardware onboard a mb. as well as the actual motherboard. It will, in some cases, actually provide a download link for the driver.
Alternate Everest download link: (offers 2 sites to dl program from)
Run the program and then:
Click on Computer
Click on Summary
Right hand window (hardware) if the text is BLUE
this is a link to the web site for that particular hardware.
If you have additional questions or need further help, please post a SUMMARY report from Everest.
