I loaded a 64bit Vista OS on a Sony laptop that was shipped with a 32bit OS. Now the laptop will not recognize the ATI Radeon 3400 Series graphics card.
I visited the Sony site and tried loading a 64bit driver that was written for a later-model Sony, and discovered that you cannot install a driver for a later model onto an older-model machine. We tried installing a 64bit graphics driver for the VGN-FW270 model onto a VGN-FW190 machine, and the 190 machine returned an incompatibility error.
I visited the AMD site and downloaded different drivers, but all of them returned an incompatibility error and would not install.
So I need to find a 64bit driver for an ATI Radeon 3400 series graphics card that somehow can be installed onto a VGN-FW190 machine that was originally shipped with the 32bit Vista OS.
Sounds pretty hopeless. I'm trying to avoid having to purchase a 32bit Vista OS disk and start from scratch.
Any help is appreciated. Thank you!
