Exclamation DRIVER NEEDED: AMD 3400 SERIES (Windows Vista x64) [PCI / ISA]

I loaded a 64bit Vista OS on a Sony laptop that was shipped with a 32bit OS. Now the laptop will not recognize the ATI Radeon 3400 Series graphics card.

I visited the Sony site and tried loading a 64bit driver that was written for a later-model Sony, and discovered that you cannot install a driver for a later model onto an older-model machine. We tried installing a 64bit graphics driver for the VGN-FW270 model onto a VGN-FW190 machine, and the 190 machine returned an incompatibility error.

I visited the AMD site and downloaded different drivers, but all of them returned an incompatibility error and would not install.

So I need to find a 64bit driver for an ATI Radeon 3400 series graphics card that somehow can be installed onto a VGN-FW190 machine that was originally shipped with the 32bit Vista OS.

Sounds pretty hopeless. I'm trying to avoid having to purchase a 32bit Vista OS disk and start from scratch.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Sounds pretty bleak.... I think you have answered your own question. Here's a few places you can look:

"Hacked for laptops" mostly video drivers

Note: Bear in mind that laptops cannot use generic drivers. That's why you're getting install errors with those drivers you've been attempting to install. This is an issue that affects all laptops, not just yours.
