Is this a retail mouse or OEM? If the latter and it came packaged with your computer, please include the computer brand and model. It may use some software program but it doesn't require a driver when used in Windows XP. The software will usually have more options to control the mouse cursor than what is usually included with the built-in support.
A USB mouse does not require drivers when used in Windows XP since support is included with the Windows XP OS. All that's required is a working USB port. It's a plug and play device.
