DRIVER NEEDED: Imation apollo 2.5" portable HDD 250 Gb (Windows Vista) [USB]

portable hdd device is operational but system does not always detect 1st time as pnp, after several attempts usually responds, and at worst a system reboot detects device.
Driver is AM7RUKV3 IDE controller (standard mass storage contollers) - flags as code 39 error (driver missing or corrupt) in device manager properties
but driverguide driverscan flags it as "up to date in achive!" but with "UNKNOWN" as provider. this appears to be conflicting in itself.
does anyone know where i can find this driver to download?

No driver is required as this is a plug and play device when used in Windows Vista OS. Your term Driver is AM7RUKV3 IDE controller is a pretty confusing sentence. First AM7RUKVS might be a driver but it's certainly not a driver name. AM7RUKV3.sys or AM7RUKV3.dll or AM7RUKV3.exe would be a driver name. While the drive itself may have an IDE interface, the actual interface would be USB. Often called IDE to USB interface.

Make sure the USB ports are working properly in Device Manager and to verify operation, you might try uninstalling/deleting the usb ports in device manager and reboot. That will allow the system to re-detect and re-install the USB drivers.

Also make sure you have the drive connected directly to a usb port and not thru a hub. And be sure the inter-connecting cable is as short as possible, ie: not over 2 ft. in length.

Did you partition and format the drive or was that already done to the drive when you got it?
