Optical driver never require a driver when used in all Windows os's beginning with Windows 95. If you have a driver installed for your SATA controller then the drive will be detected automatically by the system.

Is the drive listed in My Computer and Device Manager?

I'm having issues with this drive on my vista machine.

It recognizes the drive, installs the drivers, and recognizes when a disc is inserted, but when you try to explore or access the data, the vista file explorer seems to timeout, and stops responding.

Any help greatly appreciated.

The specific driver don't exist, but I upload the new firmware for LG DVDRW (not for OEMs: GH20NS10_EL01(EW).zip)...good luck
