Hi there Acer user,
ALL of us who have this same makers (Acer) laptops, have the same problem. I personally have the Aspire 3680. Nothing regarding these DVD burners ever work correctly using NTI!

I suggest you find and purchase something like Roxio or Nero burning software and remove the NTI junk. The only other way around this is to purchase a external DVD drive. NTI will then notice a good valid drive and you can switch to that while at home. Otherwise, Acer makes junk. Cheap junk. Which is why they are one of the worlds top selling PC makers. That doesn't mean they work, just that many of us found them cheap enough to buy the first time around.

However, after going through 3 Acer laptops, I am completely through buying them EVER again.

Consider HP, despite what anyone says about their old site, HP has a great support setup and ALWAYS has someone out there who is using the same and knows how to make it work if it fails. If you want to continue using Acer, consider buying both a external DVD burner and the software. You'll need it later! ~ Jim Grim (host of The HailDarkLord Show on BlogTV.com)
