Most of the THOUSANDS of people affected the same don't EVEN bother to post / look over at the MS Support (?) pages. Search the various forums & the numbers affected by this are ASTOUNDING ... Device Manager / Properties say exactly the opposite of the answer given you; the driver is identified as a Microsoft Corp driver. My ASUS MOTHERBOARD checks out fine & is running the latest drivers/firmware ASUS has released ... my “Orphaned” item is a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-109 USB Device as WinXP Dev Mgr sees it, but XP Constantly decides it’s a CD-ROM, & uses the following Astoundingly Stupid info;
Driver Provider MICROSOFT!
Driver Date 7/1/2001
Driver Version 5.1.2535.0
Digital Signer Microsoft Windows Component Publisher
Which is telling ME that Microsoft OWNS this Out-Dated (11 yrs?) Sick Little Puppy ... So this humbug about some “outside vendor / supplier” doesn’t wash.
Since I’m retired, I have the time to find an answer, & when I do .... it’ll be posted here & everywhere else I can for others to use, because there are NO Answers forthcoming from Microsoft ...
