I wasn't aware that Intel made sound chipsets. You sure about the hardware? There's only a few sound chipset makers amongst them are Realtek, Cmedia, ADI Soundmax, and Sigmatel. Give us something to work with here, like what motherboard you have and some details about the driver your attempting to install. Has it ever worked? You say it's a new motherboard so have you considered it may be defective? If the system is rebooting during installation of the sound driver, then I suspect it's either the wrong driver or you have a hardware problem. It could be caused by a hardware conflict but if the right driver is used, it should install in a matter of a few minutes with no errors.
Have you tried uninstalling the existing sound driver, then reinstall from scratch?
