The LTR-401255 has an IDE interface (not scsi) and it does not require any driver when used in Windows XP. The OS provides native support that allows this drive to read a data or music disk and to burn a cd-r disk.

Optical drives are pretty much Plug 'n Play in Windows. Please state what the problem is and include some details.

Am having trouble reactivating my LITE-ON LTR-401255 CD Drive When I go thru the steps to uninstall and reinstall it tells me the driver may be corrupted. I've searced using driver guide to find a replacement but guess I'm too much of a novice to fix the problem. Please advise Tom

You don't install drivers for an optical drive....Windows does it for you automatically without user intervention. Like I said in an earlier post, optical drives are plug and play in Windows XP.

If your problem is non-detection, ie: drive is not listed in "My Computer", please read post #24 in this thread: http://forums.driverguide.com/showth...t=21669&page=4

It contains instructions on the delete the upper and lower filters fix

Also, there is a STICKY posted in this forum that contains a file from Microsoft and instructions that will do this registry edit automatically instead of having to do it manually.

After performing this registry fix, just reboot the pc. Now your drive should be visible in My Computer and work properly.
