Optical drives never require any driver in Windows XP other than the driver Microsoft packaged with the os. You won't find Windows XP drivers as they don't exist anywhere but with the OS and the installation cd.
Non detection is a very common problem in Windows XP. It has been disucussed in many threads almost daily here. All you have to do to find the solution is to read.

Also, there is a STICKY posted in this forum that contains a file from Microsoft and instructions that will do this registry edit automatically instead of having to do it manually.
And here's another method that will do this automatically for you if you're afraid to edit the registry manually.
and also please realize a bad drive will produce this symptom. UJ models are notorious for going bad. I've seen brand new UJ models go bad in less than 2 days.
