Optical drives never require a driver other than what is provided natively by the Vista os. Please state what the problem is and include some details.

Is the drive listed in My Computer and Device Manager?
Has it ever worked?

I have the sama problem! It says: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) in device manager. Optiarc DVD RW AD-7530A ATA device is missing. I have acer aspire 7000, only like 6 months old... After that Otiarc ****, the DVD device doesn`t work. It opens and so on, but after that-it`s just silence, it doesn`t do anything!

Read the STICKY that offers a file from Microsoft and instructions on how to do the "delete upper and lower filters fix'. Perform the procedure and reboot the machine. Now tell me if the drive is listed in My Computer and Device Manager and is now working.

the dvd is listed in the device manager, it has worked in before. i was burning cds and dvds on friday, on sat. it would not recognize a disc. i have uninstalled the dvd and restarted, any help would be great.
