RECEIVED 'CODE 39'...TRIED TO UN-INSTALL DRIVER FOR DVD AND REBOOT, BUT PROBLEM REMAINS....

CODE 39 MEANING MISSING OR CORRUPT DRIVER...OBVIOUSLY ITS NOT MISSING SO IT MUST BE CORRUPT....

I Have Two Drivers Mentioned: The Slimtype And Nti Cd Maker/version....i Haven't Used The Nti Cd Maker/version Yet, However The Systems Says That That Driver Has Not Been Loaded.

NTI Cd Maker is not a driver. It's a recording application/software. As to "slimtype", I can only assume you're referring to a laptop drive.

Simple solution:

Situation
There is a yellow exclamation mark for CD/DVD drives in Device Manager. The device status in the properties of the driver might indicate an error code, for example 32, 37, or 39. Or the drive simply does not appear in My Computer or Device Manager.

Solution (it's been discussed over and over in this forum for the last 3-4 years but can be overlooked by not reading the forums)

To solve the issue, you have to edit the Windows Registry:
Click Start, then Run, type REGEDT32 and click OK.
Locate and then remove the following registry values:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlCl ***{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}LowerFilters

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlCl ***{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}UpperFilters



Close Registry Editor.
Reboot the system for the changes to take effect.

Note: Some programs are unable to detect the CD/DVD drive after these steps. To solve this, simply re-install the program in question, eg: usually your recording software. Also, in few instances the order in which the programs are (re-)installed can make a difference.

The steps to delete the upper and lower filters is one of the most effective steps available and recommended by microsoft,

there is also a tool if you use Nero, called Nero Drive speed which can be launched at start up which can be used to control the rate of spin for the discs you insert to your drive, keep the settings at 4x for the speed and 1second for the seek time and try to burn the Discs
To check if the drive works fine out side windows , is to try to boot from the drive itself using a bootable cd rom/ dvd rom disc.
If this works fine then there is no problem with the hardware but must be a software conflict.

If nothing else works then try to get the firmware for the drive and flash it.

cant say how much i went through to make it this problem solve. even while i was following the instruction given by the super moderator, JERRY THE DUDE'
i was still not convinced n had lil doubt in my mind if i screwed the other program by doing it so.

but now the device works and all my problem is gone. thank you driver guide.com and all hail to JERRY K (My man)
