DRIVER NEEDED: ATI radeon 9600XT (Windows XP Professional)

Hi!
Just got a card from a friend but without any box or installer cd. Just the card. Can't find or see any manufacturer name on the card, just a print "powered by ATI" and "ATI Radeon Graphics", an ATI sticker, another with "ATI 9600XT/256M" sticker and a "ATI 9600XT/256M" sticker with bar codes and alpha numeric characters underneath it. Tried using latest ATI drivers but to no avail. Run PC wizard but says it's a SIS 330 Xabre, but can't find this driver anywhere. Installed SIS driver but it says only 16MB of video memory. Pls. help. Thanks!

ATI drivers normally work on any manufacturers card as long as it has an ATI chipset. Since you didn't say which driver from ATI you used, I can only assume you musta used the wrong one. You should be using the ATI Catalyst™ 7.9 driver. It works on ALL Radeon 9600 series chipsets.

Thanks for the reply, actually, that was the first driver which I installed and during the set up process got a message "Set up is unable to complete installation. Please make sure you have the right hardware and so on..." I tried the 6.5 drivers which I'm currently using on my Radeon 9200SE but still got the same message. Dotnet framework 2.0 is also installed so 7.9 wouldn't be a problem. Thanks!

that's strange... I've never used an ATI driver that failed to work on any 9600 chipset. Can you id who made the card? eg: fcc id number or any other identifying numbers on the card?

On the back there's a print with the FCC logo is this # N625. On the sticker I mentioned before with the bar codes and alphanumeric characters: E 050 35060.
I'll try to get a pix of the card and probably upload the image later.
