no ya don't. Optical drives never require a driver other than what is provided automatically by the operating system. Windows XP includes native support that allows this drive to read a data or music disk and to burn a cd-r disk. In order to play dvd movie disks, 3rd party compatible dvd decoding software is required like WinDVD or PowerDVD.

i heard the same thing but i have power dvd and still i get no response from my dvd rom drive although i can run audio cds and cdroms help

i have a matshita ujda 750f dvd/cdrw

2 things can cause this:

1: PowerDVD needs updating to a newer version
or
2: drive is defective
