Bios flash screw-up

My question is regarding a Micron Transport Trek 2 Laptop (14.1 in. TFT XGA) - Model #: NBKU370 - Part #: NBK001441-00 - Serial #: 1298135-0001.
This machine was working fine, with exception of it rebooting itself periodically for no reason. So I tried to update the bios on this laptop by installing a bios flash from a floppy. I found the bios update on the Micron home site, but I used the wrong one. It was for a similar model, but slightly different (I can't remember the exact model # it was for, but it was only like one or two numbers off at the end of the model #, so I assumed it would work for this model too). I was wrong! After I "flashed" the bios with the wrong update driver, I tried to reboot & now the screen will not light up at all. I can hear the system booting (although I'm not sure how far the boot is going), but the screen will not come up at all anytime. Now that I have the correct bios update flash, I can't install it because I can't see anything. Is there a way to reset the bios on the motherboard, so I can start over? I'm very pc savy, but I can't figure this one out for myself. Please help!!

we think not (at least from a hardware perspective)

1. you broke a golden rule by trying to flash a system that was not stable.

2. you broke a major rule by not saving the bios before flashing

3. you failed to make sure the bios was the correct one.

4. you broke another rule by ignoring the warnings during flashing, about a incorrect bios file.

5. you are unable to create a dos boot disk which has a simple batch script to perform the nessary flashing commands.

determine who made your bios flash program and print out the command template (on another system) using "Program-name /?" and then create a simple batch script that calls the flash program with the nessary commands, and loads in the bios.bin file and executes the file.

simply enter the commands nessary to a AutoFL.bat file

Example AutoFL.bat
---------------------
awflash 1000345.bin /Y /N (load and flash bios, do not perform backup)

or
awdflash /sy backup.bin /y (save bios to disk)


the "/y" will tell the program that the ENTER or Yes prompt has been entered.

boot the floppy with the flash app bios file and the batch script and either blindly type in AutoFL.bat and hit return or automate that function also.

Personally I don't see the need to rub it in when people make a mistake.

Modern flash chips 2MB or larger have a "BIOS bootblock" feature that should allow you to recover.
BIOS bootblock code is a write protected part of the flash chip that has just enough code to start a motherboard if the BIOS is corrupt.
Unfortunately many do not include code for the video so you will have to flash it blind or automate the flash with a "autoexec.bat" batch file if the Micron flash is not already automated.

The disk should have the DOS boot files only - no memory drivers! However, you might want to include an autoexec.bat file to automate the process, in case you have to do the job blind.
