Optical drives never require a driver other than what the os provides natively. Windows XP provides native support that allows this drive to read a data or music disk and to burn a cd-r disk. No support for burning cd-rw or for playing dvd disks. For those 2 tasks, compatible recording and dvd decoding software is required. Please state what the problem is and include some details.
