You don't install an optical drive.... Windows does it for you automatically. If the drive is not detected by the system, then you most likely have one of the following problems:
1: IDE ribbon cable not connected properly or a bad ribbon cable or connector. Or power cable not being plugged in or loose.
2: Wrong IDE controller driver installed.
3: IDE port is not enabled in pc bios setup.
4. Bad or incorrect firmware flash.
5: Defective drive.
