idea Error: Stop: c0000221~ ntdll.dll

How to repair a Windows XP system that shows the following error:
Stop: c0000221 Unknown Hard Error \SystemRoot\System32\ntdll.dll

1: Boot from the Windows XP installation CD allowing the setup process to initialize.

2: Chose B when the setup process asks:

9: Chose B when the setup process asks:

b) Repair the previously installed version

10: After the repair process remove the installation disk during reboot. The computer most likely will boot into a setup as if being installed for the 1st time.

11: During the setup process the computer may fault on a sys file. If is does reboot the computer and it again should boot into a "1st time" setup process but this time it should complete the process.
without any problems.

If this doesn't cure the problem, I'd suggest a clean install on a freshly formatted hard drive.
