Depends on whether you have a add-on ltp card or if it's built into the motherboard.
If onboard, make sure it's
enabled in bios setup. If this condition is met, then the os will automatically detect and install the lpt port without user intervention.
If add-on, make sure it's seated firmly in slot and jumper settings are correct.
Also, if you are using an add-on card in a system with built in lpt, make sure the built-in port is
disabled in bios setup (exception to this is if you are trying to use 2 lpt ports in same pc). You may also have a hardware conflict which will require changing the i/o address of the device causing the conflict or the lpt card settings so as to not cause a conflict. You may also need to try it in a different slot.
A hardware conflict occurs when 2 devices attempt to share the same resources.
