This drive has an IDE inteface, not "other" as you stated. And it does not require any drivers when used in any Windows os from 95 up. Windows XP provides native support that allows this drive to read a data or music disk and to burn a cd-r disk. For burning cd-rw you must have compatible recording software like Easy Cd Creator 5.x or higher and to play dvd disks, requires compatible dvd decoding software like WinDVD or PowerDVD.
