Adding multi function fax/printer/copier to XP-PRO

I am going nuckingutts here trying to install a used Samsung Msys5200 multi op's machine on my ststem. XP-Pro.. The machine alone is functional but the attempt to add it to the pc and utilize the CLASSIC PHONE TOOLS program is not getting anywhere.... My computer has no modem. I use a westel dsl modem and a Netgear router and connect via ethernet..Do I use either of the above devices? When installing using the "add printer" xp method, the driver issue and modem search will always come up... I also do not have any luck trying to use a brother 770 intellifax which has a out to pc eithernet type cord port on it, but the network card only has one of course and internet is there. Also 4 ports on the Netgear router and detection/config/ NOTHING WORKS..
