Exclamation DRIVER NEEDED: Gateway Board SE91510J (XP)

Help, I installed the latest Gateway BIOS SSIIL2609.exe and now EVERY game crashes with my new graphics card (7900 GT). Games worked well before the BIOS update.

I tried SSIIL2525.exe from this site and it had a load failure.

I am looking for the original BIOS that came with my machine SE91510J.15A.1022.2004.0726.1125.

BIOS should be from 10/22/04.

Thanks!

During the flash procedure, weren't you offered a chance to backup your old bios? All bios flashes I've done offer that opportunity. About all I can tell you is to look on Gateway website and make use of Google or other favorite search engine.

Thanks for your reply..
No, I was not asked if I wanted to make a backup (I wish)..
I have searched all over the web and can't find my original version anywhere.
Gateway tech support cannot provide with a file containing my original bios (why not!). They only have the latest version listed (2609), which is the one I downloaded. I performed the update because the latest update stated it resolved HD read/write issues.. so I did the update to avoid potential HD problems..

After updating the BIOS did you, by chance, clear and reset the CMOS to defaults?
Depending on the changes in the new BIOS, this can be crucial.

Thanks again,
Yes I took notes and re-checked all of the settings. I pretty much had all stock settings (which it kept) except PCIE as primary video... which didn't matter anyway since the motherboard video is automatically disabled when PCIE video is installed.

I just re-installed the original factory supplied ATI X800 card ...and it crashes the same way! At least Gateway can't blame it on the video card anymore.

Hard to believe that Gateway can't supply me with the original bios file.

Is this the file you tried? http://members.driverguide.com/drive...riverid=431020 (2525)

From what I've read googling, this appears to be an Intel built motherboard however, Intel is of no help either. You might dig around on the Gateway Japan website to see if you can find any info. http://www.google.com/url?sa=U&start...3D707JP&e=9797

Another thought, the file you downloaded could have been corrupt causing your problem. If you want to download it again and try over here's the link to the current bios file:

http://support.gateway.com/support/d...628&dscr=South Lake, South Lake 2, South Lake 3, and Luxemburg Motherboard BIOS Update Revision: SE91510J.15A.2609

and here's a post I found dealing with specific instructions for installing the bios file...
http://service.gateway.com/s/issues/2-1890594513.shtml

And last but not least, did you disable the onboard video in bios setup?

Thanks for your help!
1) Yes, that is the 2525 file I tried. Don't remember the exact msg, but at the very end a failure msg was displayed and it did not install.

2) Thanks, I will check at the Japan site..

3) Yes, the 2609 file was the one I downloaded from Gateway. I have two copies and they compared as contents equal. All install messages were successful..
Gateway support also verified that I have installed the correct bios for my machine but also stated that I should not have done that. Since the update message stated it "resolved issue with Western Digital hard drives..." I installed it to avoid potential problems..
I am still under extended warranty and I have tried very hard (and many times) to get Gateway Support to send me my old bios without success..

4) My settings did and do currently match those on the Lan doc.

5) However, I did Not "set" the "default" values as you asked earlier.. but all of the values/settings matched my previous settings.. except the MB video which I set to Ext PCIE.
MB Audio was and is also disabled.

New News: I just got a new usb HD yesterday and it also crashed twice while copying files (rebooted itself)! Its rare, but it did happen.. looks like its not just due to the video. Copied ~10 GB today with no problem.
Now I can't even depend on this machine for normal work..
