not shutdown

dear all,
my ibm thinkpad r40e with win98se is not shutdown.every time ineed to press the power button only.And i need the chipset driver for it to overcome the hardware conflict 1.programmable interrupt controller
and unknown device is there.
kindly help to me where should i get the driver for this and how to overcome this problem.
i expect earliest anzwer from u.

you should be able to find the drivers you need at http://www.ibm.com
there are drivers and documentation available for your system .

This is a common problem with windows 98se, there is a patch not sure which one. but use the search function on the MS 98se webpage to find it. work to solve most shutdown problems
