VistaScan Version 3.76 Firewire

Install VistaScan 3.76 and reboot your PC. In case the scanner does not appear in the Device Manager as "UMAX 1394", double click its entry and update the driver referring to Disk 2 folder in the directory where you expanded the VistaScan driver as driver source. Ignore the warning about the missing certificate for Windows XP and continue the installation. As VistaScan is Windows 2000 compatible, it also works properly under Windows XP.
Optional: to install MagicMatch calibration profiles copy the folders (MONITOR, PRINTER, SCANNER) from the folder PROFILES of the original driver CD into the folder PROFILES of the downloaded and expanded current driver on your hard disk and select the appropriate components in the setup dialog.
Alternatively, if after the installation an exclamation mark still appears next to the scanner in the device manager, go to the folder Windows\\Inf and delete all Oem*.inf files (* stands for a number) containing the string "UMAX" , "Astra 6400" or "Astra 6500". After that open the device manager again and reinstall the driver.
