Default USB ports

My niece has an AMD K6 350 mother board and when she loaded Windows XP the USB ports are no longer active. I was told that Win XP should automatically recognise the USBs, but no matter what I do I can't get them to activate. It's been suggested to me that it might be a BIOS problem. I would really appreciate any help I can get on this one, it has me stumped.

Make sure that USB is enabled in BIOS setup. If you don't know how to access pc bios setup, please consult your computer or motherboard do entation... most common key access is DEL during bootup... others may require F1 or F2 or other special key combinations.

If you had stated the model and brand of motherboard, we could be more precise. Otherwise go to the website below, scoll down to the section label: 'Keystroke to enter the bios-setup' section...

Windows Xp provides the drivers automatically once the usb port is enabled. Check Device Manager to insure the usb port is working properly.
