Unable to install patches in IE6

I'm using XP pro with IE 6 and is unable to install patches for IE6. whenever i click on a downloadd patch, it says IE 6 have to be installed for the patch but my IE is 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030516-0318. Please help.

Goto Windows Update and look for 'IE6.1' upgrade,,, apply this first and then the patch should work....

From the "Start" key right click and search for 'ie6' (make sure "Tools, Folder Options, View, Show Hidden File and Folders is checked)

Double Click on Folder "$NTUinstall.... which is found in c:\windows"

Next Double Click on Folder "spuninst"

Next Double Click "spuninst.exe"

This will inform you that you are removing and returning to the previous version of IE.

It worked well for me, as I just went through it today and then upgraded to SP1.
