Internal optical drives cannot have a parallel port interface. Most modern internal drives have IDE intefaces and never require a driver when used in any Windows os from 95 up. Windows XP provides native support that allows this drive to read a data or music disk and to burn a cd-r disk. It contains no support for burning cd-rw disks. For that task, compatible 3rd party recording software (like Easy Cd Creator or Nero) is required.
