Optical drives never require a driver when used in any Windows os from 95 up. Windows XP Home provides native support that allows this drive to read a data or music disk. It doesn't provide any support for playing dvd disks. For that task, compatible 3rd party dvd decoding software is required. eg: WinDVD or PowerDVD.
