HELP NEEDED: LiteOn Technology LTR-48247S (Windows ME)

Need CDRW driver Lite-On LTR-48247S for HP WinME, both HP and Lite-On say that this CDRW is NOT theirs - funny its in the HP and shows up as an Lite-On LTR-48247S in the Device mode - any help here - I had to wipe my system and reboot with the CD that can with the computer - the CD ROM works but the writer will not - said not auth. check with adm. to open. ?????

Optical drives NEVER require a driver when used in any Windows os from 95 up. Windows ME provides native support that allows this drive to read a data or music disk. All recording support is provided by 3rd party compatible recording software. Your drive should have came with such software. If you don't have it or can't make it work, then you need to contact HP tech support since Liteon won't give you any support for OEM drives. Liteon only supports retail drives.
HP takes the original drive from Liteon and modifies it with their own firmware. Do not use any firmware other than authorized HP firmware on this device.
