: : : Type of drive:
cd-rw, dvd (rewriter & dvd rom combo)
: : : Location:
internal
: : : What recording software are you using?:
Easy Cd Creator/version (Other: nero)
: : Optical drives do not require any drivers when used in any Windows os from 95 up. Support that allows this drive to read a data or music disk and to burn a cd-r disk is included native with the os. If you wish to burn cd-rw disks then you need compatible 3rd party recording software. If you wish to play dvd disks, you need compatible dvd decoding software.
: : Note: And I doubt very seriously if your drive has a PCMCIA interface. IDE would be more logical.
: :
: : : I guess I just thought I needed the driver because when I put a cd of any kind in the drive and then try to look at the contents of the cd it is blank like nothing is there.
Is the drive listed in Device Manager, My Computer, and Windows Explorer? If not then you have a drive installation/configuration problem.
It the drive is listed in the above sections, then you may have a registry problem that needs attention for the drive to be properly detected. Details of how to delete the upper and lower filters in the registry are posted on the Microsoft website link below:
