not sure if this helps anyone, but this website ( http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Firmware/SingleModel.aspx?DriveId=969 )claims to have what we need. I haven't tried it yet, so I don't know how well it works. Hope this helps

Driver needed for Compaq cd-rom LTN 403. It was using microsoft version 5.1.2535.0 , file version 5.1.2600.2180. It seems the drivers are now corrupted. I get a code 39 and can't seem to update the drivers or find them to redownload.
