Question Can't Access Internet - File Missing

I apologize for my lack of knowledge here.
On Windows XP, my Broadband connection used to work fine. Then, all of a sudden, I got a message that a file was missing & I can no longer get online. I guess it is the file that contains software that talks to my broadband connection.
I only got the message one time & didn't write it down. Duh!!!!
Can anyone help me out????
Thanks,
Steve

Jerry K,
I have a router box that the cable provider gave me a while back when I subscribed. That's hooked up to the ethernet connector on my PC. Is this what you needed?
Thanks

Routers don't require any driver or files. It's probably pre-configured by your isp. However, your ethernet card requires a driver. Look in Device Manager to insure the ethernet card is working ok. If it's ok, then that only leaves your internet connection in Windows.

Open Control Panel and double-click the Network Connections icon. What do you have listed there?

If no connection is shown there then you need to "Create a new connection" from the left under "Network Tasks".

Jerry K.
The message I recieved that one time mad reference to the eathernet connection.
I'm moving a this PC is already packed up. I'll check Network Connection as soon as I get it unpacked.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
