abit VH6 problem
I have an older computer with an ABIT VH6 Socket 370 mainboard. I currently have an Intel Celeron 600 MHz (66x9) processor on it, 3 memory modules:
- 256 MB PC133 SDRAM
- 256 MB PC117 SDRAM (got from a HP Vectra)
- 128 MB PC133 SDRAM
I also got the processor out of that HP Vectra since it's mainboard was damaged (didn't recognize any keyboards) and placed it on this mainboard. The processor is an Intel Pentium III 800 MHz (133x6). After installing it and reinstalling Windows it would restart (no Blue Screen or anything like that, not a driver problem or anything like that, simply restarts) sometimes when Windows XP logo appears sometimes after the desktop appears. I read on forums that it would be a memory or PSU problem among others. I tried swapping the memory slots, use only a single memory slot, no luck. Tried another PSU, no luck. Try Windows 2000 among many windows reinstalls..same problem. Lowering bus speed from 133 to 100 Mhz no luck. But by lowering the bus speed to only 66 MHz the problem dissapeared. Works fine with both the Pentium (400Mhz) and the Celeron (600MHz) Processors.
The question is: Is the mainboard damagend in some way, restarting at a bus speed of 100 or 133 MHz? It also restarts when i try to acces my USB flash on it, even at 66 Mhz bus speed.
Any answer or advise is appreciated.
