Ok... first stop using the blank words and type where I can understand what your saying.

Let's start at the bottom of the ladder and climb one rung at a time.

Open Device Manager. Do all boxes to the left have PLUS marks in them? If not, list the hardware devices that don't.

Now expand the USB CONTROLLER section by clicking the PLUS mark to the left and list everything (even if there are duplicates) you see beneath USB CONTROLLERS.

Are any devices listed under USB CONTROLLERS flagged as having a problem?

Start-->Control Panel-->double-click System icon-->Hardware tab--> Device Manager

Other ways to get access to Device Manager:

• Click Start, click Run, and then type devmgmt.msc
• Right-click My Computer, click Manage, and then click Device Manager
• Right-click My Computer, click Properties, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager
• Type the following command at a command prompt: start devmgmt.msc

If you want to access Device Manager on a local or remote computer:
1. Click Start, click Run, and then type mmc
2. Click Add/Remove Snap In on the File menu (or press CTRL+M), click Add, and then click Device Manager.
When you use this procedure, a shortcut to Device Manager is created that you can use to open Device Manager.

Did the device ever work? If so, then Windows XP has a RESTORE feature you might want to consider using.
This feature will restore the system to a known working previous date.

and you might want to consider this:

available from Amazon and several other booksellers.

Hi had similar problem.
I reverted to pluging the camcorder directly into the dvd recorder.
Mine has 2 scart sockets plug it into the av2 and select channell untill you get it up on screen. Then you can record it directly onto a dvd and then onto your pc with it. Not ideal but hey what can ye do.
