Default ASUS A8V Deluxe x64 Woes

I have an ASUS A8V Deluxe that I recently revived. I am trying to get the Win 7 x64 install to see the Hard Drives, but no matter what config or driver I use it won't. Ubuntu x64 runs and sees the drives with no problem. I am running the Promise Controller in IDE mode, and can not attach my drives to the VIA controller for some reason or the boot fails when the VIA chip initializes with a VIA BIOS Failed to load. Can anyone help me find a Vista X64, Win 2003 X64, or Win 7 X64 driver for the promise controller? Or possibly a way to flash the VIA controller chipset

I'm not sure what hardware device you're wanting a driver for. You make mention of ASUS A8V Deluxe mb., a Promise
Controller, and a VIA controller. Can you be a bit more specific with your needs and your hardware description?

If your wanting a driver for the Promise Controller, you must tell us which one you have (or visit the Promise website)?
Same for the VIA Controller. As for the Asus mb., it's not difficult to find Asus support.

However, finding x64 drivers may be a problem for older motherboards. You might need to give Everest a try:

To find make and model of pc hardware, EVEREST Home Edition is a free system diagnostics, system information program that will id most hardware onboard a mb. as well as the actual motherboard. It will, in some cases, actually provide a download link for the driver.

Alternate Everest download link: (offers 2 sites to dl program from)

Run the program and then:

Click on Computer
Click on Summary
Right hand window (hardware) if the text is BLUE this is a link to the web site for that particular hardware.

If you have additional questions or need further help, please post a "copy and paste" of the COMPUTER SUMMARY report (Leave out the Debug–PCI section) from Everest.

Default Re: ASUS A8V Deluxe x64 Woes

Unfortunately I can't even get to windows to run a utility like this. However I did get a little progress. I downloaded the Promise 20378 RAID controller 64-bit driver v1.00.1.41, then I reconfigured my BIOS to use RAID mode instead of IDE mode. Then I booted into the SATA RAID configuration and set each drive into its own RAID 1+0 config. I re-ran win7 x64 install and with the driver I was able to see the drives, I ran the install then on reboot windows gives me a critical failure, which I can only guess has to do with the driver I used.
