Installing USB Printer Issues

I have a USB printer CanonS100. It used to work properly up to about a month ago on my pc. Then it started to give the error "Printer not respoding". I thought it was the printer and went and bought a HP2600N. During the installation it does not even detect the printer when i turn it on? I'm using Windows XP Pro SP2, Have a MSI K8MM-V board and I have checked the device manager and all the USB ports are working properly. Can anyone tell me what is going on? Thanks

i have high hopes to facilitate install printers on Vista would work
better than preceding report of windows but as it turns out it is
inferior.

you can simply remove the existing driver and then download fresh driver for your printer from Canon official website. I'm sure this way your problem can be solved. After re-installation of driver if you get problem again then you will have to format your computer and then you will get rid on your problem finally. Good luck!
