Default Ten dicas for letting the one Win XP faster.

1) Have at least 512 MB of RAM

For Windows XP running in a satisfactory manner, you need at least 512 MB of RAM. With less than that, the performance of the operating system leaves much to be desired. RAM is one of the cheapest upgrades you can do on your machine, and the result may surprise you. But be careful to buy combs for memory compatible with your motherboard. Get help from your computer manufacturer or a specialist.

2) Remove the "special" effects

By default, the desktop of Windows XP is all increased: the mouse pointer and the menus are shaded, the contents of the windows appears when they are away and so on. These "fanciness" require more of the computer. If you do not mind having a desktop without grace, but rapid, disable these effects:

# Right-click the My Computer icon and open the Properties item;

# In the Advanced tab, in Performance, click Settings;

# In the Visual Effects tab, select Adjust for best performance.

3) Disable the ZIP folders

Windows XP, by default, the files compressed in ZIP format and folders, but leaves the system more slowly - it is better to use programs such as WinZip and Winrar. To disable direct access to the ZIP folder, do the following:

# Go to Start Menu -> Run and type "regsvr32 / u Zipfldr.dll" (without the quotes).

You should see a text box with the message "DllUnregisterServer in Zipfldr.dll successful" as confirmation of registration.

4) Remove unnecessary applications at startup

# Open the Start Menu -> Run and type msconfig;

# Go to the Startup tab and uncheck all programs that need not be loaded when you turn on the computer.

Be careful not to uncheck important applications such as antivirus. Remove only those you know.

5) Make a cleaning disk

# Open the program in Start Menu -> Programs -> System Tools -> Disk Cleanup;

# Select all the items it considers to be erased. Enjoy and remove programs you no USA frequently.

It takes 300 MB of free space to run Windows well.
