Re: Installing Realtek AC 97 Audio drivers (Any version) makes my computer crash
Go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall Realtek AC'97 Audio, then download the latest version (A3.81) directly from Realtek by clicking here. Run the installer and hope it doesn't crash again. If it does, let us know what the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) says...the exact error. I'm not sure it will help, but you can also try it in Safe Mode. If it installs, make sure you allow RealMan.exe as a startup process. (SpySweeper will prompt you to allow/disallow.)
If that doesn't work, right-click My Computer, select the hardware tab, and click device manager. Then, on the next window, expand "sound, video, and game controllers," double-click each one listed, and if there is a "driver" tab, try using "roll back driver." This should restore you back to the driver you used previously.
