SoundMAX Icon disappears after installing AVG2012
I have had this small issue with AVG2012 since un-loading AVG2013 (AVG2013 only watches traffic but scans ZERO files on XP SP3 machines). I uninstalled AVG2013 and then installed AVG2012 (AVG2012 still scans everything) after doing an AVG clean-up of files left behind.
Well, after systematic regression testing, I concluded that AVG2012 was somehow preventing the SoundMAX sound icon from appearing on the taskbar, even though the box was checked in the SoundMAX preferences.
With AVG2012 removed, the icon appears at system start. After installation of AVG2012, no icon. I can force it to appear while the PC is running, but once a re-boot happens, I have to force it again. Uninstall AVG2012 and the SoundMAX icon appears.
I seem to remember when I installed AVG2011 or 2012 running into this problem and creating a workaround, but nothing I can think of seems to work now. I've uninstalled the SoundMAX and the driver, reinstalled it after AVG2012, and no dice. (But as Charles Bronson once said in a Simpsons episode, 'This ain't over!")
Has it got something to do with how AVG places the AVGtray icon on the taskbar?
Has anyone else seen this happen?
