Exclamation Installing Realtek AC 97 Audio drivers makes my computer restart

I am attempting to install RealTek AC 97 for the last time. I'm using an eMachine - I know.. I know.. but it works for what I use it for.

Every time I attempt to install RealTek AC 97, the system will just reboot. I've discovered it's when the software us installing alcrmv.exe. I have had no luck removing AC 97 and re-installing it.

idea Re: Installing Realtek AC 97 Audio drivers makes my computer restart

Had the exact same problem. Realtek would restart my computer everytime I tried to install sound driver. The drive Id shows its sis7012 and realtek is not working for it.

Solution: I disabled the device and removed realtek, them discovered the driver that worked for it before I reformatted the computer was a soundmax audio driver. Searched for and download it. Then go to the device, right-click, update driver, Install Advanced, browse were the download it and it will install and have sound.
