I struggled for a while as well. i tried the updated xp driver from vaio - no luck, then after a few other methods, i downloaded the original vgn-a115s driver package for xp from vaio support, extracted it, extracted the a115s
video folder, cut it, pasted it in the extracted original drivers root folder, renamed it (original name too long),
start
right click - computer
manage
device manager
right click - standard vga adapter
click - update driver
click - browse
point to the new extracted renamed folder
ok
restart
- now i can view the display on an external screen!

If you cannot find proper driver for your ATI graphic card from official website. Then, you can try install it from your device manager.

Step 1. Click Start, then right-click "My Computer" (or "Computer") and click "Manage".

Step 2. In the Computer Management window, on the left, click "Device Manager".

Step 3. Click the "+" sign in front of Mouse and other pointing devices.

Step 4. Right-click the device listed below Mouse and other pointing devices and select Uninstall.

Step 5. Click OK to confirm removal of the device.

Step 6. Restart the system. Windows will detect and automatically install the driver.

If it still does not help, then you can refer to this article to see how to download proper ATI drivers, http://www.official-drivers.com/articleadmin/admin.php?action=edit&id=36817. Hope it can help you!
